Buying a camper
What information should a camper listing include?
A good camper listing shows the year, brand, model, floorplan, asking price, location, length, sleeping capacity, and clear photos inside and out, plus any known issues and recent maintenance. Ask the seller for anything that is missing.
How do I choose a camper that my truck can tow?
Find your vehicle’s towing capacity, payload, and hitch rating in the owner’s manual or door-jamb sticker. Compare them with the camper’s loaded weight (GVWR) and its tongue or pin weight, and leave a safety margin of 10 to 20 percent. Payload is often the limit before towing capacity, especially with fifth wheels.
What should I check before buying a used camper?
Check for water damage, roof and seal problems, tire condition, plumbing leaks, and appliance operation. Verify ownership and title information, ask about known defects, and consider an independent RV inspection.
Where can I buy a used camper near Myrtle Beach, SC?
Myrtle Beach RV Classifieds lists used fifth wheels, travel trailers, destination trailers and hybrids on lots in Longs (North Myrtle Beach) and South Myrtle Beach. Every listing shows the full price and the inventory updates throughout the day.
Can I see a camper in person before I buy?
Yes. Every unit on the site is on a Grand Strand lot. Send a request from any listing and a specialist will confirm it's available and set a time for you to walk through it.
Can I get a video walk-through instead of driving down?
Yes. Ask for a live or recorded video walk-through on any unit. It's the most common first step for buyers in Charleston, Columbia and eastern North Carolina.
How do I know a listed camper is still available?
Inventory refreshes several times a day, but units can sell between updates. Tap Check availability on the listing and we'll confirm before you make the trip.
When is the best time of year to buy an RV on the Grand Strand?
Fall and winter usually bring the best pricing, as dealers clear out the current model year before spring. Summer has the most buyers, so popular floorplans sell fastest then.
Pricing & fees
Are there dealer fees on top of the listed price?
No. Listed prices include freight, prep, detailing and the walk-through. There are no doc fees or dealer add-on fees. You pay the listed price plus government taxes, tags and title.
Why is the listed price so far below MSRP?
MSRP is the manufacturer's suggested price. Listed prices reflect volume buying and no add-on fees, so the savings shown on each unit is the gap between MSRP and what you actually pay.
Do you match RV show prices?
Yes. Bring the show price on the same new unit and we'll match or beat it.
How much is tax on a camper in South Carolina?
South Carolina charges a one-time Infrastructure Maintenance Fee on campers and travel trailers instead of regular sales tax, capped at $500, plus title and registration fees. Check the current amounts with the SC DMV before you buy.
Do you offer military or veteran discounts?
Yes. Active-duty military and veterans get a discount. Mention your service when you request a quote.
Financing & trade-ins
Can I finance a camper with bad credit?
Often, yes. We work with more than ten lenders and all credit situations to find a payment that fits. You can start with a pre-qualification that won't commit you to anything.
How long can I finance an RV?
RV loans commonly run 10 to 20 years depending on the price, the age of the unit and the lender. Longer terms lower the monthly payment but add total interest.
Do you take trade-ins?
Yes. Campers, boats, trucks and cars are all welcome as trade-ins. Choose Yes for trade-in on any request form and we'll get you a value.
Choosing the right type
What size toy hauler garage do I need?
Measure your longest toy, including mirrors and racks, and add about a foot for tie-downs and room to walk around it. Motorcycles and golf carts usually fit in 8- to 11-foot garages, while side-by-sides often need 12 feet or more. Also check the ramp door’s weight rating and the camper’s cargo capacity.
What is the difference between a travel trailer and a fifth wheel?
A travel trailer connects to a hitch behind the tow vehicle. A fifth wheel connects to a hitch mounted in a pickup truck bed. Compare your vehicle’s ratings and the camper’s loaded weights before choosing either type.
What is a destination trailer?
A destination trailer is a large, residential-style trailer built to park long term at a campground, lake lot or beach site rather than tow every weekend. Most have full kitchens, tall ceilings and household furniture, and they're usually moved only a few times a year.
What is a hybrid camper?
A hybrid is a travel trailer with fold-out tent beds on one or both ends. You get hard-sided living space in the middle and extra sleeping room in a lighter, shorter trailer that's easier to tow and store.
What size camper can my truck or SUV tow?
Compare the camper's loaded weight (GVWR) to your vehicle's towing capacity, and leave a safety margin of 10 to 20 percent. Also check payload: a travel trailer puts about 10 to 15 percent of its weight on the hitch, and a fifth wheel about 15 to 25 percent on the truck bed. Tell us your year, make and model and we'll match campers to it.
Do I need a special license to tow a camper in South Carolina or North Carolina?
For typical personal campers, a regular driver's license is enough in both states. Very heavy combinations can fall under different rules, so confirm with your state DMV if you're towing near commercial weights.

Owning a camper on the coast
How do I protect an RV from salt air at the beach?
Rinse the roof, frame and underside with fresh water every few weeks, keep roof and window seals inspected twice a year, and use a breathable cover in the off-season. Salt speeds up corrosion on hitches, jacks and steps, so lubricate them often.
What should I do with my camper during hurricane season?
Atlantic hurricane season runs June 1 to November 30. Keep a tow plan ready, park away from trees and flood-prone areas when a storm is forecast, and check that your insurance covers named storms and flood.
Can I live in a camper full time in Horry County?
Some campgrounds in the Grand Strand area allow long-term or monthly stays, but rules vary by campground and by county or city zoning. Check with the campground and local zoning office before you plan to live in a camper full time.
